The title of this work will confuse some readers. That’s not unusual. Most of the words used to introduce my work don’t conform to accepted marketing principles. My titles are the esoteric thought-teasers that push some people to look inside and other people to shake their heads in disbelief. And that’s the way we roll, according to actor and artist Jim Carey. Carey claims we should accept and discern rather than stress and worry about pleasing the masses because of the sliding scale of perceptions people experience.

Excerpt From Just An Old Fashioned Love Song Meets Stoic Man

If your desire is for good, the people will be good. The moral character of the ruler is the wind; the moral character of those beneath him is the grass. When the wind blows, the grass bends.

Excerpt From Pine Cone Pandemic

“Another reality, you say? What do mean when you say your Grabala friend shares consciousness? How can anybody share consciousness with a tree?”

“Grabala said consciousness is not a thing. Consciousness is the action of energy. And energy doesn’t have be physical to exist.”

Excerpt From The Butterfly Ball

Nessa saw the branches sway in the breeze as she looked over the semi- cleared fifty acres. She loved to look at the bare branches especially when new buds started to form a soon-to-be green wonderland. She stopped and began to imagine what a tree feels. She looked up and pointed towards the mighty oak that gave the backyard a healthy dose of dignity and beauty. She spoke aloud hoping the tree would answer in some way.

“Each branch is part of you, but each branch is its own tree too. The buds on the branches are part of you, but they are leaves too. The leaves are part of your branches, but they have their own life. You are more than one tree in this world and your roots are trees that live in another world. Maybe I’m a bunch of trees just like you. My roots may be in another world too. Maybe I don’t have Down syndrome in that other world.”

Excerpt From Black Orchid Night

One night, her mother was standing next to the bench. A cluster of different colored Holcoglossum amesianum orchids were arranged in a row on the seat of the bench. Her mother’s words came out slowly.

“Instincts and emotions move you through your life, child. Attract what you need from that world and discard the frivolous senseless words, and people who hold you to a distorted form of righteousness. Resurrect your life using your imagination.”

Suddenly Fiona flashed back to when she was twenty-one. Roger and new stepmother, Violet Simmons, felt it was time for Fiona to face life. Fiona told them about her dreams and her encounter with her mother and the orchids. They questioned her sanity.
